The Fishers Event Center's Winter Calendar Is Full. The Union Next Door Opens With One Restaurant.

Flower Child was scheduled to open Oct. 27 at 9344 Union Place Dr. That makes it the first restaurant with an announced opening date at The Union at Fishers District, the 11-acre development just south of Fishers District beside IKEA. Across the parking lot, the Fishers Event Center has Indy Fuel home games, a Big Ten tournament and holiday-season concerts booked through Dec. 30. The full-service restaurants planned for The Union, the ones built for long dinners before a show, have no announced opening dates. For the rest of 2026, the district's event calendar is ready well ahead of its dinner options.

One Freestanding Building on Union Place Drive

Current in Fishers reported that the Fishers restaurant is Flower Child's 47th location and its second in Indiana. The first opened in Nora in 2025. The Fishers building covers 3,500 square feet. It has an open kitchen, indoor seating and a covered patio, and the outside wall carries a mural of the brand's lemons and its "Let Your Soul Shine" line.

The menu is fast-casual and built to order. It includes the Mother Earth Bowl, The Rebel "French Dip" Wrap, the Avocado Caesar Salad and a gluten-free mac and cheese. Gluten-free desserts include a Lemon Olive Oil Cake and a Double Chocolate Almond Brownie. Drinks include house-made Rose Petal Lemonade, kombucha on tap, seasonal sangria, beer and wine. You can eat in or order through the Flower Child app for curbside pickup or delivery.

In the company's release, quoted by Current, Vice President of Operations Dave Luz described The Union's "dynamic mix of shopping, dining and entertainment" and said the development "felt like a natural gathering place for people to spend time together." Of all the restaurants in that mix, Flower Child is the only one with a published opening date.

The Rest of the Map, Sorted by What Is Known

Developer Thompson Thrift plans about 60,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space at The Union. Its property page still lists the project as under construction. Measured against that plan, Flower Child's 3,500 square feet is a small first piece. Here is where the other tenants stand, based on what has been announced publicly:

  • Opening date announced: Flower Child, scheduled for Oct. 27.
  • Planned, with a timeline that hasn't been updated since 2024: Kitchen Social, Niku Sushi and Piedra Mexican Steakhouse.
  • Leased in January 2026, no date given: Cunningham Restaurant Group's unnamed concept, Dot Sugar and The Oakmont.
  • Announced earlier, no date given: Everbowl, Racha Thai, Renova Aesthetics, Sweathouz, Unplug Soy Candles and a jewelry store.
  • On the developer's map, no date given: Tous les Jours, Jet Set Pilates and a Jeni's scoop shop.

Jeni's is the least certain name on the list. Current reported in July that the Columbus-based company hadn't answered a request to confirm the Fishers shop, which would be its first in Indiana. The map shows it next to the planned Cunningham Restaurant Group building. For now, it's a planned location, not a confirmed one.

The Dinner Restaurants Are the Ones Without Dates

The biggest restaurant planned for The Union belongs to Cunningham Restaurant Group, the Indianapolis company behind Rize, BRU Burger Bar, Provision, Livery and Vida. Current reported in January that the group leased a two-story building. The plan calls for about 5,700 square feet of fine dining upstairs and a 2,400-square-foot bar with small plates downstairs. Together that's 8,100 square feet, more than twice the size of Flower Child. The announcement said the concept would be new to the Cunningham lineup. It had no name at the time, and the January announcement gave no opening date.

The other sit-down restaurants have older timelines. In 2024, the Indianapolis Business Journal reported that Kitchen Social planned a restaurant at 11401 IKEA Way. Its menu covers global dishes, steaks, seafood, brunch and cocktails, and the opening was expected in the second half of 2026. Niku Sushi was reported at the same address with the same expected timing. It will serve sushi and other Japanese dishes with sake, wine and craft cocktails. Piedra Mexican Steakhouse was expected to open sometime in 2026. None of the three has announced a firm date since those reports, and only about two months of 2026 remain.

That gap matters because these are the restaurants built for sitting down. Kitchen Social has a brunch-to-cocktails menu, Niku has a sake list, and Cunningham plans fine dining with a separate bar downstairs. All three fit the dinner-before-a-show evening the Event Center's calendar is set up for, and none of them is open yet.

What the Event Center Has Booked Through December

The Fishers Event Center at 11000 Stockdale Street opened on Nov. 22, 2024, with a Turnpike Troubadours show, according to the City of Fishers. Its third winter there looks like this:

Date Event Start

Tue., Nov. 3 Indy Fuel vs. Cincinnati 10:30 a.m.
Sat., Nov. 7 Indy Fuel vs. Kalamazoo 7 p.m.

Thu., Nov. 12 MercyMe, Jeremy Camp, Tim Timmons and Sam Wesley 7 p.m.

Wed., Dec. 30 Indy Fuel vs. Wheeling 7:15 p.m.

Hockey dates come from the Indy Fuel's 2026-27 promotional schedule. The Ignite event was announced by Pro Volleyball. Before the Fuel's Nov. 29 game against Bloomington, check the start time on the Event Center's ticket page, because the team schedule and the venue calendar list different times.

Most Fuel home games are Sunday 4 p.m. starts or Saturday 7 p.m. starts, and the concerts begin at 7 or 8 p.m. A 4 p.m. puck drop leaves time for lunch first. A 7 p.m. start leaves time for an early dinner. Flower Child's counter-service format handles both easily. A reservation-based dinner at The Union will have to wait until the Cunningham building or one of its neighbors opens.

Where a Pre-Event Meal Fits This Season

The Union isn't the only place to eat in the area. Thompson Thrift's property page lists the nearby businesses that are already open around I-69 and 116th Street: 1933 Lounge, Topgolf, Kinkaid's Meat Market, Portillo's, Sun King Brewery, Starbucks, The Fresh Market, Target and IKEA. The developer calls The Union an expansion of Fishers District, designed to match the existing district so the two feel connected. Current describes The Union as one of five developments within Fishers District.

For a Saturday 7 p.m. Fuel game in November, that means a choice of food from both sides of the district. Flower Child is the new option on The Union side. For something slower, the established places on the north side, like 1933 Lounge and Sun King, are the ones open now.

The Hotel and Apartments Fill In Next

The Union also includes buildings that aren't restaurants, and some are further along. Dora Hospitality and Holladay Construction Group marked the topping out of the AC Hotel Fishers in September 2026. The 135-room hotel is the first AC Hotel by Marriott in Indiana. Topping out means the building's structural frame is finished, and the companies said the project is on track to open in early 2027. Once the hotel opens, out-of-town guests coming in for a game or a tournament will have a place to stay inside The Union.

The development is planned for 251 apartments and 70,000 square feet of Class A office space. The apartment leasing office is open and advertising October move-ins. Thompson Thrift's page still shows a few shop spaces of 2,135 to 2,725 square feet available to lease. When the apartments, offices and hotel are all running, The Union will have people around during the day as well as on event nights, and the dinner restaurants are planned for that point. For this winter's hockey, concerts and the Big Ten tournament, the only restaurant at The Union with an announced opening date is the lemon-mural building at 9344 Union Place Drive.
