This summer Broad Ripple lost a piano bar and a late-night taco spot. This fall it gains a butcher counter, a deli, a bookstore and a thrift shop. The businesses opening or about to open close by early evening, and most of them sit just off Broad Ripple Avenue. For anyone who already lives in Washington Township, the village is becoming a place for Saturday errands, with the late-night strip playing a smaller part.
What Closed, and When
There were two departures this summer. Condado Tacos closed its restaurant at 838 Broad Ripple Ave. on July 5 after almost eight years, according to the Indianapolis Business Journal. It was the chain's original Indianapolis-area location. Brick House Dueling Pianos opened in Broad Ripple in 2014. It closed on Aug. 23 after a farewell celebration that ran through its final weekend, WTHR reported.
In that WTHR story, the group Love, Broad Ripple said it was sad to see longtime favorites go. It also said new businesses are coming to the area and that people remain engaged and enthusiastic about doing business in the village. The new businesses do exist. Their hours and addresses look different from the ones that left.
The New Arrivals, by Address
Most of the 2026 arrivals are on side streets and on College Avenue. Only one is on the main Avenue.
| Business | Address | Status as of Oct. 7, 2026 | Hours or timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eve's Garden Deli | 916 E. Westfield Blvd. | Opened June 2026 | Wed–Sun, closes by 8:30 p.m. at the latest |
| Perasma Book Co. | 6531 Ferguson St. | Grand-opening weekend July 10–12 | Open |
| Moody's Butcher Shop | 6434 N. College Ave., Suite C | Target is the last weekend of October | Opening details not yet posted |
| Sally's Station Store & Donation Center | 1021 Broad Ripple Ave. | Target is before Thanksgiving | Not yet open |
| Hamilton Walker's | Broad Ripple and College avenues | Target is early 2027 | Not yet open |
Only Hamilton Walker's, which is still months away, is an evening destination. Everything else on the list is a stop you make during the day.
Moody's Brings a Nora Errand Down to College Avenue
Moody's Butcher Shop is the move most likely to change someone's weekly routine. Its Nora shop at 1764 E. 86th St. is closing. The Moody's Nora page says the same crew is moving to a larger storefront at 6434 N. College Ave., Suite C, and is "aiming for the last weekend of October," with opening-weekend details still to come. The shop says the new site has a large parking lot with two entrances directly off College Avenue. That matters in a village where parking usually shapes the trip.
The new shop will also add something. The IBJ reported on Sept. 28 that the Broad Ripple location will offer hot-food takeout, the first time any of the chain's four stores has done so. The menu hasn't been announced. Still, a butcher case with hot food to go becomes a lunch or early-dinner stop as well as a place to buy meat, and that fits the daytime pattern of the other openings.
The last weekend of October is a target, so plan around it loosely. Saturday, Oct. 31 falls on that weekend, which puts Moody's possible opening on the same Saturday as the likely last outdoor farmers market of the season. More on that below.
Eve's and Perasma Cover the Hours Between Errands
Eve's Garden Deli opened in June at 916 E. Westfield Blvd., according to WTHR. Its posted schedule is a good example of how the village's new businesses keep time:
- Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Closed Monday and Tuesday
The deli notes that hours may change, so check before you go on a Sunday afternoon. Highlights from the menu include Crislyns' corned beef with Swiss, sauerkraut and Italian dressing on rye, and Elizabeth's roast beef with fried sauerkraut and Eve's sauce. There is also a four-cheese grilled cheese.
A few blocks away, Perasma Book Co. at 6531 Ferguson St. held its grand-opening weekend July 10–12. A bookstore on Ferguson and a deli on Westfield Boulevard make an easy pair for a Saturday that starts with groceries and ends before dinner.
The Thrift Store Takes Over a Taproom
The address on this list with the most history is 1021 Broad Ripple Ave. The Salvation Army plans to open Sally's Station Store & Donation Center there. The IBJ described it as a "higher end" thrift store. The Sun's account of the space says Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Co. occupied it from 2011 to 2019, followed by Sun King until 2021.
A Sept. 1 6AM City newsletter listed the store as "Coming Soon" and repeated the plan to open before Thanksgiving. As of Oct. 7 no opening date had been confirmed. Thanksgiving is Nov. 26, so the store could open any time in the next seven weeks or so. Because it is a donation center too, it gives residents a place to drop items off as well as shop, which makes it one more daytime stop on the Avenue.
Saturday Morning Already Starts Outside the Village
The weekly anchor of a Broad Ripple Saturday isn't in the village core this year. The Broad Ripple Farmers Market runs outdoors May through October in the Glendale Town Center parking lot east of Lowe's, at 6001 N. Rural St. In October it is open from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. The market's page doesn't list a final outdoor date. Since the season runs through October and the market meets on Saturdays, Oct. 31 would be the last outdoor morning.
In November the market moves indoors and back into the village, to Broad Ripple Middle School at 1115 Broad Ripple Ave. It keeps Saturday hours of 9 a.m. to noon through April and is closed Nov. 28, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The winter market is a few blocks east of the future Sally's Station on the same Avenue. A November Saturday could take in the market, the thrift store and Moody's on College without much driving.
The Fall Calendar, in Order
The events this fall are also mostly in the afternoon and early evening.
- Saturday, Oct. 10: Broad Ripple Oktoberfest runs from 4 to 10 p.m. in the Vogue Theatre parking lot. The lineup includes Clayton Anderson, Dog Will Hunt, Polka Cola and Midnight RedEye, and children 12 and under get in free with an adult.
- Saturday, Oct. 17: The Indy Art Center hosts Fall Fest, Locally Made: Indy's Fall Fest, from noon to 5 p.m.
- Thursday, Oct. 22: The Indy Art Center shows Ghostbusters outdoors. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the film starts around 7.
- Weekend of Oct. 31: This is the target opening weekend for Moody's on College Avenue and, by the calendar, the last outdoor farmers market at Glendale Town Center.
- Saturday, Nov. 7: This should be the first Saturday of the indoor winter market at Broad Ripple Middle School.
- Saturday, Nov. 14: Concerts for a Cause runs from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Indy Art Center.
- Before Thursday, Nov. 26: This is the Salvation Army's target window for opening Sally's Station at 1021 Broad Ripple Ave.
The One Evening Tenant Arrives in 2027
Broad Ripple's evening options are changing too, just on a longer timeline. Hamilton Walker's, which describes itself as a 1940s-style steakhouse specializing in steak, seafood and spirits, plans an 8,000-square-foot restaurant at Broad Ripple and College avenues, with a target of early 2027. It is taking the former HopCat space at the base of the Broad Ripple parking garage, which Keystone Group is folding into its Marko on the Canal apartment development. The restaurant's only other location is in Champaign, Illinois. Mary Dicken, executive director of the Broad Ripple Village Association, told WTHR the steakhouse "brings another outstanding dining experience to an already wonderful mix of restaurants."
A sit-down steakhouse fits the same change. It is a planned dinner out, which is a different evening from the late nights Brick House and Condado used to host. For this fall, the days are where most of the new activity is. A Saturday that starts at the Glendale market at 9 a.m., moves to Moody's on College, stops on Ferguson for books and ends at Eve's before 8:30 p.m. would cover nearly everything that's new.
At Premier Partners, we keep track of how Broad Ripple's storefronts and street corners are changing because those changes shape everyday life in Washington Township.
